AMERICAN WAY OF LIFE AND DEATH

Galerie Maïa Muller, (France) · 2026

The current exhibition at the Maïa Muller gallery by Hassan Musa, a Sudanese artist living in France, is no stranger to this notion. Titled American Way of Life and Death – a title that inevitably recalls the approach of an Andy Warhol or a Richard Avedon – he indeed wished to show for the first time a series of portraits of iconic American figures whose image has become so famous and celebrated that it has ended up obliterating their very nature as human beings, even the lives they lived, in favor of a storytelling written about them, through them, but without them."
